Please join the Washington Bar Association, Inc. (WBA) and the Washington Bar Association Educational Foundation, Inc. (WBAEF) for our Annual Law Day Dinner on Saturday, May 4, 2024, at the Salamander Washington D.C. located at 1330 Maryland Avenue, SW, Washington, D.C. 20024, beginning at 6:30 in the evening.
The Annual Law Day Dinner is a time-honored tradition for the WBA, which is the oldest and largest predominantly Black bar association in the District of Columbia and one of the oldest and largest in the country. Every year, the collective goal of the WBA and the WBAEF is to raise significant funds for scholarships awarded to Black law students and others from backgrounds that are historically underrepresented in the legal profession and to support a variety of practical legal education programs in underserved and historically disenfranchised communities in the District of Columbia. Contributions not only support educational opportunities for the next generation of social engineers, but they also provide critical resources for the dedicated pursuit of our motto, “Equal Justice Under Law”.
The highlight of the Annual Law Day Dinner is the conferral of the highly coveted Charles Hamilton Houston Medallion of Merit – the Washington Bar Association, Inc.’s highest honor – on the prestigious honorees of the evening. Previous recipients of the Charles Hamilton Houston Medallion of Merit include Justice Thurgood Marshall, Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Congressmen Elijah Cummings and John Lewis, the Honorable Eric H. Holder, the Honorable Loretta E. Lynch, and many other luminaries who, through their life’s work, have consistently demonstrated a commitment to Houstonian principles.
We look forward to bestowing the Charles Hamilton Houston Medallion of Merit on our history-making 2024 recipients. The 2024 Law Day Dinner promises to be an incredible evening of legal excellence that you will not want to miss. The event will begin with a VIP cocktail reception for sponsors, dignitaries, and other distinguished guests. The program and a formal dinner will follow, and the event will conclude with our much-anticipated dessert reception and live entertainment.
We would be honored to have you partner with us as a 2024 Law Day sponsor as we celebrate our incredible trailblazing honorees and the many accomplishments of this Bar year.
